The road...
I just finished a book that I can sincerely say will be one of my all time favorites. I am gonna make my kids read this book before going to high school. I wish I had read it sooner.
I have a million favorite quotes in the book, but this one stood out to me tonight.
"As Harry Lauder sais, ah just intend tae keep right on to the end of the road..."
I have been feeling daunted alot this year. Meaning that I have been trying to please everyone. When you try to please everyone you aren't going to do anything. I realized that tonight. I am realizing that I can't even please my parents all the time. So there! There you go! But, in order for me to be happy, not just in life, but with myself. I have to do what I really want to do.
This quote makes me look at my life like a road. There are going to be people that walk with me at some points in the road, and then sometimes I am going to be alone. I am starting to be ok with walking alone, and "I intend to keep on to the end of the road."
The book is Trainspotting by Irivine Welsh. Read it.
